Job Overview

Cook Bros Design Build Remodeling, a well-established design/build firm specializing in large-scale residential additions and renovations, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Architectural Designer to join our Arlington, VA office. With over 35 years of industry expertise, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional remodeling solutions to our clients. This office-based position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a dynamic design team and clients and contribute to transformative residential projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the design team and clients from Schematic Design to Construction Documents.
  • Measure existing homes and create accurate ‘as-built’ models.
  • Engage with clients to discuss design considerations and incorporate feedback.
  • Create conceptual and schematic models/drawings for client review.
  • Develop detailed construction documents for permitting and coordinate with local building departments.
  • Stay proficient in CAD modeling platforms, including Revit, Chief Architect, and other CAD platforms, and embrace learning new software.
  • Ensure adherence to residential design principles, construction techniques, and building codes.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules and delivering high-quality work.
  • Must be open to working within our proven system to design high-quality renovations that meet our clients’ needs and expectations.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Architecture.
  • Experience: 5–8 years of verifiable experience in residential wood-frame construction (remodeling experience preferred).
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling software (Revit, Chief Architect, AutoCAD).
  • Knowledge of residential design principles, construction techniques, and building codes.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong organizational skills, a great attitude, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Portfolios are a plus.
